'Cherish' for Mixed Media & Arts

Hello crafty friends!
It's my turn to show my page created for Mixed Media & Arts blog,
this month we have a winter inspired mood for you,
and this is what I created.

'Cherish'

I started with some Blue Fern Studios papers, this collection was my absolute
favourite by them, and I was really saddened to read the news that they have closed...
(I just went and read that Leslie sold the company! it will live on! yay!)
Blue Fern Studios was the first 'real' design team that I was offered and it
was also where I met my craft 'bestie' too - way back in 2014, and we are
still cherished friends to this day. I love the grungy feel to this collection,
it really inspires me to go wild with paints and mediums... when I let myself roam
free creatively, it always leads to me a very raw chaotic place with lots
of splashes of color and raw textures.
The stark desolate feel to this month's moodboard inspired me
to use a dark background with some twigs that I painted with white acrylic paint,
some torn up lace, flowers and a vintage photo of a forlorn young lady.

Thanks for looking,
see you soon,

'Thankful' a new layout for Mixed Media & Art

Hello my lovelies!
Autumn is here, and I have been enjoying
long evening walks in my neighborhood wrapped in a sweater and marveling
at the brilliant changing colors of the trees.

'Thankful'

I always start by covering my paper with clear gesso so my inks don't seep through
the paper, then I did some stenciling and added several Lindy's Stamp Gang
sprays. I used a new Sizzix leaf die and added some flowers and a few real
leaves I had gathered on my walk :)
I was inspired by the nature woodland feel and the rusty reds and greens of fall.
I hope you feel inspired by our new moodboard and join us!

For more info on how to enter please go here.
Here are a few close ups:

I used a piece of Dusty Attic chipboard, some vintage beads that I
found at a flea market and a sprinkling of gold sequins .

Thanks for visiting!

'I Heard You Singing' for Mixed Media & Art

Hello my sweet friends!
I am so honoured to be able to stay on the wonderful team at
Mixed Media & Art challenge blog for another term!
The moodboards that Olya Kravets creates are marvelous and always spark my creativity.
She is such a talented crafter and her work is amazing!

'I Heard You Singing'

I love vintage styled art, it melts my heart to work with time worn antique style elements.
I started with some old sheet music and added lots of Lindy's Stamp Gang
mists, stamping, an old baroque style frame, lots of flowers and le piéce
de résistance - a vintage enamel butterfly pin I found at an estate sale :)

Here is the mood board for this month:

To find out more about how to join our challenge, win wonderful prizes and
see some of the most jaw-dropping gorgeous art check out the challenge here.

I would like to enter my project in a challenge blog called Scrap-Chip, they
have a challenge this month to use the color brown and chipboard, here I have used
a 2 Crafty Chipboard vine piece that I painted black and then rubbed with gold
metallic paint.

More info on this challenge here.

Here are a few close ups:

I added some stenciling with a Prima stencil and some gloss gel,
then I rubbed some Prima gold metallic paint to bring out the textures.

I was inspired by the colors, the moths and all the gold in our moodboard....
Sometimes I sift through all my photos to find just the right one to use,
and I found this one that I had printed of my mum and her mum,
but I had mistakenly printed over it a photo of me holding my baby boy,
and I just thought it would be neat, and the colors are perfect.

See you next month,
Hugs, Lisa xox

'Create art'

Hello my crafty friends!
It's my turn to share my page created with our brand new moodboard at
Mixed Media & Art
It's got a very artsy feel to it and like always makes me want to get messy
with inks and paints.

'Create art'

The first thing that popped into my mind with these photos of palettes and brushes are
the super fun art classes I have been enjoying with my son over the summer holidays.
We have several of his paintings displayed around our house, and he really
enjoys being creative which of course makes me very happy:)
I used some 7 Dots Studio papers and some old ripped up jeans to add a boyish feel.
I took the colours orange and blue, and added a few paintbrushes
to tie the theme all together.

To find out more about our challenge please go here.
Lots of great prizes to be won!
Here are a few close ups....

I hope to see you join in the fun!
Until next time,
Lisa xoxo

'Upon a shore....'

Hello my dear readers!
It's my turn to inspire you with the new summer moodboard at
Mixed Media & Art! I loved the summer theme and couldn't wait to create
my project inspired by the peace and calm of the ocean.

'Upon the shore....'

I bought some seashells, dried roots and some kind of netting that looks like
a fisherman's net at Hobby Lobby where I also found a little photo frame in the shape
of a starfish, cute right? I covered the back of a canvas with Prima white crackle paste,
then used some light watercolors and then set about gluing down my frame,
the netting and then lots of seashells and some Prima flowers and Prima art stones.

The July moodboard:

More info on how to join our challenge this month is here.

I was also totally in love with a challenge one of my favourite blogs,
More Than Words.... which was to be inspired by the word 'beach' and to use real shells!
This photo of my little man daydreaming was taken on one of our summer vacations.....
we are counting down the days until we go to Florida in a few weeks, I can't wait!
I always comb the beach for treasures and try to take a few home with me.

More info on this challenge here.

I hope everyone is having some wonderful summer adventures,
much love,

'Rhapsody in Yellow"

Hello lovely readers, I'm back!
I finally wrestled up some mojo to create a page inspired by the brand new
moodboard for June at Mixed Media & Art, filled with bright sunny yellow
and a touch of cool blue.

I used the 'Captured Adventure' collection from 49 & Market and some yellow
cotton trim that I found on one of my treasure hunts.... I had no idea how I was going
to use this trim at the time...and then here comes the June moodboard and
I thought it fit the whole theme perfectly!

Here is the lovely moodboard:

For more info on how to enter please visit our blog here.
Our challenge this month is called 'Emotional Outburst' and you can use
the sketch or be inspired by the photos, the colors or the textures.

Here are a few close ups:

I also added some Prima clay molds, a piece of 2 Crafty Chipboard, and of course, my
go to for color - Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays. I used 'Azure Sea Asters', 'California
Poppy Gold', and 'Pineapple Paradise'. I just received 10 brand new bottles of
Lindy's that I won in one of their challenges and I can't wait to play with them.

Thanks for looking, and I hope to see you join our challenge!
Have a wonderfully crafty weekend..

'Splendid' for Mixed Media & Art

Greetings my lovelies!
It's my turn to share what I created with the fabulous Mixed Media & Art moodboard
for April.... -my word- I love our moodboards so much!
Always really gorgeous beautifully colored and textured photos
that immediately make me want to get messy....

'Splendid'

Words can't describe how much I love my son, he lights up my world. I decided to make
this project as a way to capture how my boy is growing into a young man.
I found an old piece of wood in a field behind my house, so I broke it into pieces,
glued it down to some cardboard, and covered it in gesso and deep blue ink.
Then I added some old worn book papers and vintage keyholes.
I created the heart shaped lock with a Finnabair mold and Prima paper clay,
colored it with Lindy's Stamp Gang spray and then rubbed some
Finnabair metallic gold paint over it.
I really like how this turned out....I have always admired 'off the page'
projects so much, and this one has really gotten me excited to do more....

Here is our moodboard and a few close ups:

For more info on this challenge, please go here, the work done by our Guest
Designers this month is off the charts amazing....talk about inspiring!
I sat gazing over my sweet friend Elena's birdcage for quite some time...
one of the prettiest most intricate pieces of art I've ever seen....take a look here.
I hope you join us!

As always I used my favourite inks, Lindy's Stamp Gang, I adore all
the different colors, especially this gold.... the vintage coppery color played
so well off these deep blues...I used 'Tweedle Dee Denim', 'Afternoon
Delight Denim', and 'Bayou Boogie Gold'.

I hope you feel inspired!
Until next time,
Lisa xoxo
