'beautiful memories'

Hello my creative souls, I'm back today with another art journal
spread I created, this time trying to make it a little more
personal with some old photos and with my favourite color - pink.

'beautiful memories'

Photos are from my modeling days back when I first moved to Miami, which seems
like a lifetime ago....I found them while sorting through boxes in my studio.
I wanted to add some journaling but not quite sure how to incorporate it into
the spread...maybe I'll write something on the page behind it.

I wanted to add some depth using some black charcoal pencils, but I might have gone a little
overboard...I've never used charcoal before, so I'm still experimenting. It's also altogether too busy, but I'm a beginner and this journaling is going to take practice.....The most important thing
is to just try and let it flow.....

'one fine day' a canvas for Mixed Media & Decor

Hello my crafty friends!
I'm back to share a canvas I created after watching a video
of one of my favourite mixed media artists, Anastasia Korvyakova.

'one fine day'

I saw a post on her blog the other day where she shared a video tutorial of
a project she created for Mixed Media & Decor. I've used torn up denim for
a while now, it was a great way to bring some texture and some boyishness
into the pages I would create with photos of my son. Here I covered a small
canvas board with vintage papers, covered it with gesso and inks,
and then added denim pieces, flowers, a feather and some vintage
buttons. I also used a vintage family photo.
There is a contest going on and I would like to enter :)

Here is a link to Ana's video found on her blog post here,
and also a link to the
Instagram account Mixed Media & Decor,

'epiphany'

Hello my lovely readers!
If you are still here reading my blog...welcome!
I'm so glad you stopped by....I haven't been creating any pages lately,
as I have had quite a dry spell when it comes to my creativity,
but I recently purchased an online art journaling course,
and I have promised myself to at least try to keep up with some journaling
pages as they are quicker and easier to make.

'epiphany'

The classes I purchased are from Laly Mille, and I love her style.
Her course called  'The Artist and the Journal'
taught some great techniques about breaking a blank white page -
(yikes! that was so welcome - as I'm sure all of us have felt a small sense of dread while
cracking open a brand new journal), and some cool ways of incorporating paints
into the spreads (using my fingers - it's fun and I highly recommend it).
I also have enjoyed listening to her thoughts about incorporating personal
meaning into the pages, emotions drive us to create art, and exploring
how to capture a little bit of yourself using papers and mediums is so
relaxing and rewarding. I created this spread using watercolors, watercolor
pencils, tea stain, a few stamps and some die cuts.

Here are a few close ups:

The postage stamps are from a package of paper that I ordered from Poland.
I love to collect bits of unusual papers, they can add a lot of character
to your journaling. It can be packaging, vintage book pages (my favorite)
or pages from a magazine, which I haven't yet tried.

Hugs always,
and a Happy Easter!

'be mine....'

Hello my lovely readers! I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day
filled with a lot of love and happiness :)
I was invited Guest Design this month by the blog
ART UP which also has an online shop.

'be mine'

I used some old Prima paper that I thought would be perfect for a vintage page.
I added some texture with a stencil and some heavy white gesso, then I added
some pink acrylic paint and some Tim Holtz 'Tea Stain' to create a messy background.

Here is this month's moodboard:

....'my journey'....

Hello my crafty friends!
So I've been feeling quite stuck lately as I find myself in the new year
being on only one Design Team. Without project requirements using certain materials,
I'm feeling about lost about what I want to create. I knew I wanted to make a simple
but textured page with some hope of this coming year being a positive and creative one!
I reached for some old 13 arts materials that I had left over, and the urge hit me to
create something in yellow.... a happy and hopeful color.

'my journey'

I started with clear gesso all over the page, did some stenciling and then added some yellow
and black watercolors. I layered up some papers from the collection 'Aria Story'
and some 13arts transparent stickers.

A few close ups:

I've also started a course to learn how to make my own art journal from scratch and
so I'm excited to see where this new adventure takes me....what about you?
What are your crafty plans for 2019?
Thanks for looking,
Lisa xo

'Cherish' for Mixed Media & Arts

Hello crafty friends!
It's my turn to show my page created for Mixed Media & Arts blog,
this month we have a winter inspired mood for you,
and this is what I created.

'Cherish'

I started with some Blue Fern Studios papers, this collection was my absolute
favourite by them, and I was really saddened to read the news that they have closed...
(I just went and read that Leslie sold the company! it will live on! yay!)
Blue Fern Studios was the first 'real' design team that I was offered and it
was also where I met my craft 'bestie' too - way back in 2014, and we are
still cherished friends to this day. I love the grungy feel to this collection,
it really inspires me to go wild with paints and mediums... when I let myself roam
free creatively, it always leads to me a very raw chaotic place with lots
of splashes of color and raw textures.
The stark desolate feel to this month's moodboard inspired me
to use a dark background with some twigs that I painted with white acrylic paint,
some torn up lace, flowers and a vintage photo of a forlorn young lady.

see you soon,
