Happy Birthday Scrap Around the World!

Sooo...I had to put this post up again because I didn't do the link up in SATW
correctly, and I couldn't figure out how to correct it...so pardon the repeat!

Hello ladies....have you seen the challenge at Scrap Around the World yet?
It is their 'epic' anniversary event and they have been featuring so many beautiful layouts
from all the sponsoring companies...they have really outdone themselves this month!!!

SATW always has such beautiful moodboards and this month's was no exception! I was inspired by
the pink and white balloons with the gold and I wanted to create something very light and delicate.
SATW is very special to me as it was the very first challenge I ever entered (with my very first
blog post! ) and the first challenge I ever won! Helen and her ambassadors are super talented and
super kind, and I send lots of love and birthday greetings their way! Every month this blog is so
full of inspiration....and I know it will continue as one of the best challenge blogs out there!

Here is the amazing moodboard....you can find all the details about the challenge here....

Here are a few close ups of my layout....

Because this month's challenge had a party theme, I went digging and found an old photo of one
of my mum's birthday parties...she is the little girl standing up to the far left.

I used a piece of the new paper line from Blue Fern Studios called 'Shannon's Dream'
that is so pretty in real life, and a piece of BFS chipboard called 'Treasured Floral Frame'
that I embossed in gold. I also used bubblegum pink and gold mists to create a girlie feel.

There is still time to enter!
Thanks so much for stopping in for a look,
big hugs, Lisa xox

selfie

Hello ladies! I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.....
So, I found a blog recently that I just absolutely love! They posted a sketch a couple
of weeks ago, and I loved it's simplicity so much that I knew I had to play along.
The blog is called paperdvizhnik.... so many beautiful layouts, lots of talented girls,
I was just so inspired.

'selfie'

A girlfriend of mine had given me a pair of gorgeous earrings that were silver and full
of rhinestones, so so pretty. So I thought I had to scrap them in some way, hence the 'selfie' (lol).
Then as I was looking at the photo, I thought of this sketch, and all of a sudden I knew exactly
what I was going to do with it. I loved the simplicity and minimalistic look of the sketch
and I saw something elegant with silver, gems, and lots of white.

Here is the sketch...

Here are a few close ups...

I found this blog by reading Gayle Price's Bliss and Gesso. She is on the design team
and I wanted to share her post here.... it talks about how we create and I just loved her description
of what goes into creating a lo, it so perfectly sums up what makes a page unique, interesting, and one that communicates a story or an emotion....I couldn't have said it better myself and I hope
it's ok to share here ;)....She talks about whether or not you start a project
with a very specific look in mind, or if you stay completely open to the process of creating
and see where it takes you. I admit to both; there are times when I let the photo, the colors, the
materials guide where the design eventually goes, but there other times like with this lo,
that I know exactly how I want it to look....I would love to know your thoughts....?
How does your creative process go?

I used some new Blue Fern Studios chipboard called 'Ornate Medallions' and
'Marakesh Panel' designed by Janene atThe Scrapbook Diaries, I love it so much.
I embossed them in silver and tucked them behind my photo.
So Gayle's post also posed a great question, what's more important, your process or the end result?
I find creating something relaxing, calming, and so rewarding, so I guess I enjoy both equally.....

Thanks for stopping by......
Big hugs, Lisa xo

'Capture the Moment'

Hello girls......it's Friday night and I am so happy it's a three day weekend!
So many ideas swirling around my head...photos, colors, papers, sketches......
I am really looking forward to some studio time this weekend....
I wanted to share some work I did for Blue Fern Studios. This one is called...

'Capture the Moment'

I'm just awful at titles....I have a lot of alphas but it never seems to work out for me.
So I am in love with the 'Captured Word' sets from Blue Fern Studios designed by
Janene Meyerowitz of The Scrapbook Diaries
I LOVE a grungy vintage torn up page with lots of messy drips....
I used new Prima paper, Prima flowers and lots of gesso and inks.

This is a vintage photo of my mother in law when she was young, so sweet.
And a little more detail....

I also created a tag with the new BFS papers called Ombre Dreams, so pretty in real life!
They are all beautiful soft pastel colors with pretty patterns on them.

Here is a little more detail.....

Thanks for dropping by and taking a look,
I appreciate each and every visit so much!
Hugs, Lisa xo

summer

Hello scrappy ladies! How is everyone's weekend so far?
I sat down last night to play around with a holiday photo I had on my desk
and created.....

"summer"

This is an 'out take' of me on the beach....kind of weird, kind of different.....
I like how it turned into a beach themed lo, but in unusual colors...and not the typical
blues you might find....then I found this dollar store summer stamp in my stash that fit
perfectly, love it when that happens!
So I saw Inkido has a beach theme going on for the May challenge, so I decided to play
along....I wish Inkido products were easier to get in the States!
I might have to try ordering from some stores in Europe, anyone have any tips?

Here is the challenge mood board and here is the Inkido blog....

Here are a few close ups...

Here I have used some Blue Fern Studios chipboard called 'Graduated Circles' and also
'Blooming Flourish' that I painted white and then embossed with Ranger 'Antique Linen'
embossing powder....

The beach is definitely my happy place!
Thanks for stopping by....
Hugs, Lisa xox

perfect moment

Hello everyone! It's the first of the month and so it's time for another
Blue Fern Studios sketch challenge! Please see the blog here for the challenge
rules, and for the goodies to be won....

"perfect moment"

Here is the beautiful sketch...

When I saw the new paper line from Blue Fern Studios called 'Ombre Dreams', I was inspired to do a light and shabby layout with some soft colors. Here I used the Blue Fern Studios paper called 'In Bloom' as the base and some chipboard called Film Strips and another called Bohemian Flowers which I altered with a simple coat of white acrylic paint.

Here a few close ups....

I did lots of masking and misting....no matter how many mists/inks I try, I always
come back to Tattered Angels Glimmer mists....just love them to bits.

Thanks for stopping by......
Hope you get a chance to join in! We love to see your creations!

Hugs,
Lisa xoxox
