winter baby

Hello girls! Last day of the year! I created this layout for the December Maja Design challenge using their paper called Vintage Summer Basics 1899, I LOVE their papers, so soft, feminine and beautiful. I found this photo of my niece Lily, and just knew I had to scrap a wintery pink page. I used some vintage crocheted Christmas ornaments that I found at a tag sale, so I whitewashed them and thought they looked like falling snowflakes.....please visit the Maja Design blog here and their shop here.....they have the most lovely inspiring mood boards at the beginning of each month.....
I also saw that the December challenge over at Inkido's blog was all about stars and snowflakes, today is the last day to enter......there is always some gorgeous inspiration to be found there as well, Helen has a stunning layout posted today with pretty snowflakes here.....
I hope everyone has a joyous New Year's Eve! Hugs, Lisa OXO

Traditions

Hello friends! Well with such a wonderful break from work these past couple of weeks I have so enjoyed some extra time in my tiny studio doing what I love, getting inky and messy! I won the December kit from Scraps of Elegance and it was full of beautiful Christmas papers and embellishments. I loved how the flowers were not red, but a more unusual color combo of greens and ochre, just lovely......I have used the Petaloo flowers that came in the kit and also a beautiful Blue Fern Studios ornate frame piece which I gessoed and then covered in Stampendous Vintage glitter, love how it sparkles......I wanted to do a page about how my son and I always get our portrait taken at Christmas, it's fun to see how much he changes and grows from year to year....I hope everyone is relaxing and enjoying the last of the holidays....hugs, Lisa XO

December

Hello scrappy friends...I hope this evening finds everyone well and happy....This layout has sat on my desk half finished for days and days and I realized that I could make it look wintery and icy, and enter it into Once Upon a Sketch challenge which is all about our favorite month....mine is December for sure, I love wearing chunky sweaters and boots, drinking hot cocoa, baking yummy treats, the cold days, and of course preparing for Christmas, my all time absolute favorite holiday! My journaling on the back reads: "December is my favorite time of year, I adore Christmas and all the preparations, the presents, the baking and the magic of  believing in good will toward men. I have always loved winter and snowy days, I guess that's the Canadian in me coming out! " I used some 13 Arts products, silver micro beads, silver holographic glitter, and a pretty white stem, you can find these products at the 13 Arts store here, and also visit their challenge in their 13 Arts fan club here. I also was so happy that I finally figured out how to emboss! What took me so long? I embossed two Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces, a large scroll and a birdcage with silver embossing powder, you really can't see it too well in the photo, but I was so amazed by how silvery and shiny they turned out, really love the metallic effect, will be trying that more often for sure!

You can find the Once Upon a Sketch challenge here.....

Journalling Theme: "My favorite month"

You are free to interpret our theme any way you like but please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes some journalling (hidden journalling is fine)

I also took some inspiration from Scrap Around the World December challenge, as always, I was totally in love with their mood board it looked very snowy and wintery to me, I loved the photo of the white washed frames with a hint of blue, and the photo of the ring. I used some gorgeous rhinestone snowflakes to give it a look of jewels, and I loved the sketch as well ....there's still time to enter this one, you have until the 31st! Find the challenge here....

We all know how busy the month of December is SO we are changing our rules FOR THIS MONTH ONLY - we are allowing TAGS and ATC's!!  And there is NO LIMIT on the size of your layouts, canvases or art journal spreads!!  You can even do a single art journal page!!  We understand that this month is about spending time with your families, creating memories to be scrapped in the future, so we are trying to help you save time & still get the chance to be creative, just in a shorter time frame if necessary!!

or even just one aspect of an image, using ANY COLOURS! Our sketch is OPTIONAL!!

{we suggest you read our 10 GOLDEN RULES before you begin}

1896

Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week, getting ready for the big day! I am sharing my latest mixed media kit designed exclusively for The Scrapbook Diaries called 1896, and I just realized it will be my last kit of the year!  I found these gorgeous vintage photos at an estate sale over the summer and saved them for the perfect project. I thought the aged colors go perfectly with these lovely papers in this kit. As you probably know by now, I adore vintage photographs and love to collect them. They are just so mysterious and intriguing, who are these ladies? What were their lives like? What were their struggles, their achievements, their joys? Their lives are a secret lost to time, but their hauntingly beautiful faces remain......As usual the kit is filled with beautiful Prima papers, great mediums and many pretty flowers, I just loved the rich golds, silver and grays. For more info on the kit please visit The Scrapbook Diaries blog here. And don't forget to check out The Scrapbook Diaries shop here, Janene carries some of the most beautiful and hard to find scrap book products in the industry, and designer kits from some of the most popular designers out there.....

Thanks so much for taking the time to look!

Best wishes, Lisa XOXO

Angel

Hello friends.... Well the countdown to Christmas is on! I created this layout as an ode to my my love for Prima (and my sweet baby boy)....I am following along with their December PPP challenge, which you can find here.

2013 December PPP

I loved the color combo and I wanted to use some of the gorgeous Holiday Jubilee collection. I have used the following Prima products:

Christmas Morning paper
Holiday Memories paper
Christmas White Resin Embellishments
Christmas Flowers - Silver
Interlude Red Roses
White Chantelle Heirloom Roses
Bel Canto Red Flowers
Flourish Stencil
White Abbey Flowers
White Pearl Say it in Crystals

Engraver Alphas

The only product that isn't Prima is some silver micro beads, and some white glitter. This was last year's Christmas portrait, still haven't done one for this year, but there's still time! LOL! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week, see you soon, thanks for dropping by....

Guest Designer spot at Berry71Bleu !

Hello friends, the ladies at Berry71Bleu were kind enough to invite me to be a Guest Designer this week as I won the October challenge. The theme for November was 'Change is Beautiful'. When I thought of change, I thought of how I am having to accept some changes about myself that I am not really enjoying! They say 40 is the new 30 but I'm not too sure about that! LOL! Anyway, I love how this background turned out....I played with some old book papers, lots of gesso and 13arts purple mist, Prima flowers, a ring chipboard piece from Blue Fern Studios, and I finally figured out how to use some micro beads that I bought a while back, love them! Please check out Marivic's blog, the challenges are very inspiring, and there are so many talented ladies over there showing some lovely work!
Wishing you well, Lisa XO

My happy place

Happy Sunday everyone! My favorite day of the week....I had created this lo to enter in Once upon a Sketch November challenge and I just realized that today is the last day to enter! So glad I checked, I thought I had until the end of the month! I love love love their challenges, but.....I am hopeless at adding journaling onto a lay out! It's frustrating because I love journaling, it adds so much meaning to a page, but I have a really hard time incorporating into my design. I even have problems getting a title in their somewhere! So I wrote some journaling on the back of the page, it reads " Liam, there are many places - the beach most of all - where I am so happy, but the truth is, I am happy almost anywhere - as long as I am with you! You bring so much joy into my life and I love every minute of being your mum! YOU are my happy place! "
Without being too sentimental, my son is my world and this photo is on the steps of our house, which is my happiest place of all. :)
I used some Prima flowers and some really gorgeous blue and brown and green Petaloo hydrangeas, and a Blue Fern Studios vine that I inked with 13 arts Pearl Brown mist.

Here are more details about this month's challenge! And you can find the Once Upon a Sketch blog here.....

Journalling Theme: "My Happy Place"

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

Thanks for taking a look! Lisa XO

I made the team!

Hello friends! So excited to share that I made the Blue Fern Studio 2014 design team!  I really do love Blue Fern Studios chipboard, and I am so thrilled to have been chosen, I had to pinch myself a little bit! Could it be true? LOL! Their chipboard is beautiful, fun and can be used in so many different ways,  and they are constantly putting out new designs, check out their blog here. I see some of girls on the team who I know and have admired, and some new faces that I am really looking forward to getting to know better! Here is the full cast:

New Design Team Members
Evgenia Pelzer - South Africa
Jackie Clark - Canada
Jelissa Mei - Singapore
Joyce Lawrence - United States
Keren Tamir - Canada
Leila Cardoso - Brasil
Lisa Griffith - United States
Marie Josee Hamel - Canada
Maja Stokk - Sweden
Olga Heldwein - Poland
Rae Moses - United States
Yuko Tanaka - Japan

Returning Design Team Members:
Camilla Ekman - Sweden
Erin Blegen - Director of Marketing - United States
Kelly Foster - United States
Lisa Gregory - United States
Patter Cross -Assistant Design Team Coordinator -United States
Valerie Serfozo - Design Team Coordinator - United States

So I had these green and peach butterflies floating around my desk for a while now so I decided to give them a home. I have been playing around with my new 13 arts products and I am just  in love with Ayeeda's style so I tried out a white grungy background. Starting with white card stock is a MAJOR challenge for me, as I seem to take the direction of my design from the paper I am using, and green and peach? wasn't sure....but I love how all the black really pops! I used 13 arts gesso and mists and I used some Blue Fern Studios Marrakesh panel which I cut into smaller bits and then painted black.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Hugs, Lisa XO

6th of March

Hello friends! I hope this Sunday finds everyone relaxing a little? I recently treated myself to two new products, one was Maja Design papers - I am in love!- and the second was some Shimmerz paints which I was wanting forever and just really adore. I used lots of Prima flowers and some Blue Fern Studios chipboard.......I created this lo for the October Maja Design challenge, the colors were blues and browns and had a vintage family theme.....this is an old photo of my family circa 1977 (?) at my Uncle's house, I can still remember every detail about our canary yellow Volkswagon beetle bug! Can't wait to play with more Maja papers, the vintage vibe is so me! :)

create memories

Hello friends!  I found a beautiful sketch blog called "Keeping the Best" while browsing around and I loved their current sketch so much I sat down one night and this lo just came together almost on it's own! I love the freedom of a blank page, you never quite know where it's going to take you....but...I can get lost in that freedom and end up fussing over a lo for days on end.....whereas a a sketch gives me direction and I can pull it together without over-thinking things, can anyone else relate to that? LOL!!!!
I found this old photo of me and my little lion, miss those days when he was so small! I am entering this lo in the Keeping the Best current challenge:

Hello, our dearly beloved readers!)

We hasten to you with a new sketch and mega inspiration from our designers! Author sketch - our resident designer Lizaveta-Lizzaveta .

Sponsor assignments online store Hobby profi !
Look in the store: there is a wide range of products for different kinds of art, and not just for you ;)

The prize - a certificate for a purchase in a store par 300 rubles -
will be played by Random among the works constituting the top and TR.

I think they put up sketches twice a month, I saw some really some lovely work on their blog.

As I was taking a photo of this lo I remembered that the Berry Bleu blog had a challenge this month that was all about autumn colors, which I was really going for here. So much inspiration to be found on Marivic's blog, really love it.  You can find their current challenge here:

October Challenge "Autumn is in the Air"....

Hi everyone!!
This is  Marivic and I am hosting the October Challenge.
If you're one of the lucky ones that get to live where you can see the Fall Foliage, then I envy you.
I live in Houston where it is still in the low 90's and humid. The weather will start to cool off around Halloween.

But if you live in the Southern hemisphere...I am sure you are enjoying the beauty of Spring in all its glory?

It is October...my birthday month and I would love to see what you will create for us this month...

Fall colors is our theme this month.

Use the colors that you see in the mood board.

So.......I hope everyone had some scrap time this weekend, take care, 'til next time!

Hugs, Lisa XO

P.S. I won both the Berry71Bleu challenge in October and I also won the Keeping the Best challenge! I was so excited today, and so happy that I get to be a guest designer!

Delight...a brand new kit!

Hello everyone! I'm back again to share another brand new kit for The Scrapbook Diaries! Janene has kept me busy with all the beautiful goodies she has sent me recently. This time it was pure Prima loveliness with the Delight collection designed by Jodi Lee. When I saw the soft blues and pinks in this collection I went digging and found this old photo... I think I am maybe 5 or 6? I adore old family photos and brining them to life in a design..... I loved creating these pages...this kit is loaded with enough Prima papers and embellishments that I managed to make 3 layouts and even had enough left over to make a card! Please visit The Scrapbook Diaries here for more info on this kit, and don't forget to check out their online shop here, they carry some really cool paper, chipboards, paints, and much, much more.

A vintage photo of my beautiful grandma, Dorothy, miss her. XO

Beautiful...... a new kit for The Scrapbook Diaries

Hello everyone! So pleased to have designed another mixed media kit for The Scrapbook Diaries called Beautiful. There are some gorgeous Prima and Basic Grey papers included in this kit as well as some Prima embellishments and flowers....also used some Faber Castell gelatos which I really enjoyed playing with! The second image is the bonus layout that can be created with the materials also included in the kit......

This lo is very special to me as it is a photograph of my paternal grandfather George. He was born in London in 1906 and was an officer in the Royal Air Force during WWII. He holds a very special place in my heart as he died before I was born and I never had the chance to really know him....I treasure the few photographs I  have of him....XO

For more information about how to purchase this kit please visit The Scrapbook Diaries here.....just a reminder that The Scrapbook Diaries shop carries some of the prettiest products out there, and some drop dead gorgeous kits by some of the most creative designers in the scrap world!
Until next time......hugs, Lisa XOX

pretty in pink

Hello scrappy friends, I hope everyone has had a great weekend with lots of time to indulge in our love of all things creative.....I was thinking that Blue Fern Studios chippies and Prima are a match made in heaven, and so combining the two, this is what happened! I have used Prima paper "Epigram" from the Divine collection by Jodie Lee, with some bits and pieces from Finnabairs latest papers in the background, Prima flowers, and Prima Say it in Crystals with some Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces called Bits of Honey. I have wanted to scrap this photo of me and my mum for a long time now, and I thought something very pink and girly would be pretty. I am entering it into the September Prima BAP challenge which you can find here, and also I am entering the Blue Fern Studios September challenge, which you can find here, I love them both, and the sketches for both these challenges were so inspiring! Thanks for taking a peek!
Hugs, Lisa

P.S. I was the first feature picked for the September challenge at Blue Fern Studios! You can check it out here, I was really excited and so grateful for the really kind words they had to say about my lo! Thanks so much Blue Fern Studios!

summer

Hello ladies! I created this lo to enter into the August challenge over at Blue Fern Studios. I looooooooove their chipboard!
If the butterfly looks real, it's because.....it is! I went grocery shopping with my son the other night and right as we were entering the store I happened to look down and there she was lying on the ground, so I scooped her up on a piece of paper and brought her home. I suddenly thought she would look pretty on my lo...the colors are so pretty in the light....the beauty of nature.....
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
Until next time, hugs, Lisa XO

More info on the challenge, I believe it's open through the 31st.

Everyday....new layout for SATW

This lo is my entry for the August challenge at Scrap Around the World. I LOVED the mood board and sketch this month. I was inspired (obviously!) by the peach color in the mood board, I have never scrapped this color before, and the photo of all the jewelry and charms, so I added a few charms and rhinestones. I loved the sketch with the circles as well, I used some of Finnabair's prima clear circles which I loved how they looked. I also used Finnabair's Prima Sunrise Sunset paper which I just adore. I fiddled around with this for weeks, so I am kind of late, but there is still time to enter! Challenge closes tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Hugs, Lisa XO

Lisa, there is just so much we love about this gorgeous layout! We're so happy that Blue Fern Studios could lend a hand in making this stunning page SHINE!

OOOOHHH I was so happy to see this this morning! Great way to start the week! Thanks Blue Fern Studios!!!

I also used some brand new Prima Finnabair paper and stamps which you can get over at The Scrapbook Diaries... http://www.thescrapbookdiaries.com/finnabair-products-from-prima-in-stock-now/
