Botanical Cards for 2 Crafty Chipboard

Hello girls :) It's my turn over at the 2 Crafty Chipboard blog to share my
new projects. I love creating cards! They're fun quick ways to explore different
color schemes and create something that you can share.

I started with some plain cards that I covered with some scrap paper, and then some
pages from a old book. I covered the cards with a coat of clear gesso, and then some white
gesso to create a light background, and to help my inks not seep into the paper.
I used some Lindy's Stamp Gang mists in brown, moss green and gold, and also added
some stamping. Once my background was complete I started to build up my layers using
some white feathers from the craft store, my chipboard pieces, some lace, and then some
Petaloo flowers.

2 Crafty Chipboard pieces used:

"Viney Page Frame"
"Frames Tiny Kathleen's"
"Card Word Set 1"
"Card Word Set 2"

I love to alter my chipboard pieces to create textures. I do this by
covering them with a messy coat of heavy white gesso then heating it with my heat
gun until it bubbles. Once that is dry, you will have a cracked bubbly surface that
gives the leaf chipboards a great natural look once you have added color. I use
anything from watercolor paints, inks, oil pastels with a little water;
there are so many possibilities, the sky is the limit!

For the little frame and then fantastic little word sentiments I painted them lightly
with some Prima gold paint.

Don't forget to stop by the 2 Crafty Chipboard blog here,

See you soon!

'Special'

Hello there my crafty friends :) The sweet girls from the blog Kiev SkrapKlub
have invited me to be a Guest Designer this month, and this is what I created.

'Special'

I was so inspired by the deep rich blues in the mood board, so I chose a Blue Fern Studios
paper in navy blue and also added some pieces of a paper by Riddersholm, lots of masking,
paper layers, and lots of 13 arts mists.

Here is the beautiful mood board:

For more info on this challenge, please go here.
And a few details:

I added a few pieces of my favourite 2 Crafty Chipboards, one is called
'Fine Leafy Bush' and then another called 'Cassie's Flourish'. that I painted with my blue mist.

Thanks so much for looking!
Hugs, Lisa xo

'Beautiful Journey'

Good morning my crafty friends...
I'm here to share with you a page I created for a Guest Designer spot at 'Skrapovy World'
another beautiful Russian scrap blog.

When I first saw the theme of this challenge was 'Straw Hat' I was really wondering what I could
do, but then found this photo that my husband took of me on the beach, and it fit perfect!
I grabbed my Prima 'French Riviera' collection and went to town :)

Please check out this challenge here on the blog called 'Skrapovy World'.

A few details:

LOVE the pink and purply tones to this collection, it's unusual and super pretty
for a beach themed layout.

Lots of layers from the papers and journal cards in this collection pack, some Prima flowers,
a piece of my favourite 2 Crafty Chipboard called 'Fine Leafy Bush', some seashells,
and some pretty Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays in :

'Cotton Candy Pink'
'Bodacious Blush'
'Tea Pot Purple'
'Buccaneer Bronze'

I would like to enter my layout on a blog called 'OMSK Scrapclub'
more details about the challenge here.

The girls at this blog do something truly amazing;
once a week they compile an extensive list of all open challenges with
all types of themes, sketches, color palettes, everything!
I follow this blog and visit quite often, it's a perfect resource for anyone
who loves entering challenges as much as I do :)

See you soon,

Botanical Art Journal

Hello dear readers, I hope this post finds you all well :)

One night I was in my studio staring at the jar of pretty flowers I had stopped by the side of the road to pick a few days earlier, admiring the contrast of the bright yellows and purples and I realized I had seen the new monthly color challenge for May over at Lindy's Stamp Gang with the very same colors! I also had my latest Scraps of Elegance kit strewn all over my desk, and it hit me.....a vintage styled art journal spread using my flowers, parts of my kit, and some bright colored Lindy's inks.

I started with a beautiful old book that I found at an estate sale a few weekends ago, an ancient copy of 'Black Beauty', that was so worn and tattered with thick creamy pages, just perfect for altering. I covered the spread with a very thick coat of clear gesso, so that my inks wouldn't seep in, and then some heavy white gesso to lighten up the pages. Then I took some of the Graphic 45 Ephemera Cards from my kit and tore up some pieces and glued them down. I added some strips of washi tape here and there, and then splashed some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in the following colours:

'Pop Rock Purple'
'Witch's Potion Purple'
'Glory of the Seas Gold'
'Black Orchid Silver'

Here is the Color palette from Lindy's Stamp Gang this month:

You can find out more details on the challenge here.
I love the Lindy's blog! There are always fantastic short videos from some really talented
ladies with lots of great ideas on how to use their sprays and powders.

Here are a few details:

From the April Scraps of Elegance kit I used the following:

FabScraps chipboard 'Wonderful'
BoBunny Laser Cut Chipboard Tags 'Trellis'
Graphic 45 Ephmera Cards 'Time to Flourish'
Prima 'Blushing Bouquet' Flowers
Petaloo Testured Elements Canvas Daisies
Hot Off the Press Stamp 'Bird in Cage'

For more information on how to buy our kits please visit here.

As a final touch I added some of these little black alpha beads from a previous kit
to add some interesting contrast.

Keep your eyes open! There is so much inspiration in
nature around us everyday....I hope I have inspired you a little :)
