'Pure Joy'

Good evening my crafty ladies!
We just found out the Scrapki Wyzwaniowo challenge blog
has decided to close; and it's sad news.... I love love LOVE
7 Dots Studio papers, they're my 'go to' brand that really fits my style,
but after 7 years of creating wonderful challenges, it's understandable.
Our theme this last month is JOY!

'Pure Joy'

I created this page with the Yuletide collection papers and stickers, I even found
a little joy tag to use as my title. This page got a little out of hand with the
messy background (I guess that's kind of my signature look lol),
but I really enjoyed making it!
Won't you joins us this last time? We are all busy making plans to enjoy
the happiest time of the year with our families and friends.... I hope
you find time to capture a little bit of what makes you joyful and share it
with us, as we bid adieu to all the wonderful people at Scrapki Wyzwaniowo.

To see our designers works and to find out how to join visit here.

I would like to participate in a challenge I found on a blog called
Art UP! called 'Happy Winter', you can find it here.
I was inspired by the red colors and also the theme,
nothing makes me happier than my boy;
especially this this time of year when
children make Christmas seem magical.

Here are a few close ups:

Today is my holiday baking day with my family,
I love making lots of iced cookies for my family and friends....

Hugs always,

'Boy'

Hello crafty friends...fall comes late here in the south, and although
it's already December, I've been taking long walks with my boy, my best little buddy.
The air is crisp and mild, and the fiery coloured leaves are still falling gently.

'Boy'

I dug out the remnants of a fall kit from Scraps of Elegance, I really miss being on
the Design team of a kit club! Once a month I would find a jam packed box
full of seasonal goodies and my mind would swirl with ideas.
This fall kit was one of my favourites, it had beautiful papers from the Prima collection
Amber Moon, which I used here to create one more page with an autumn mood.

Here are a few close ups:

I've had this chipboard word floating around my desk for ages and ages,
I finally found a page to use it on!

1.
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
        Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
    Conspiring with him how to load and bless
        With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
    To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
        And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
          To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
        With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
    And still more, later flowers for the bees,
  Until they think warm days will never cease,
          For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

2.
  Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
      Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
  Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
      Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
  Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
      Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
          Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
  And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
      Steady thy laden head across a brook;
      Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
          Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

3.
  Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
      Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
  While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
      And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
  Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
      Among the river sallows, borne aloft
          Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
  And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
      Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
      The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;

          And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

'Fairy Whispers'

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow crafty girls......
I love having more time to spend with my family anytime we are celebrating
holidays.... but....it also means I have some precious extra time to spend
in my craft room doing things I love....

'Fairy Whispers'

I have been feeling a bit of melancholia these past few weeks, perhaps it reflects
the season..... everything around us in the forest is dying and decaying as the sun no
longer blazes, and the nights grow bitterly long cold and black as coal.
I have been wanting to make something using shades of violet and when I
saw this moodboard a few days ago on a lovely blog called Lawnpink
I knew the time was right.

Here are a few details:

I used some 7 Dots Studio 'Garden Party' papers, the deep purple with the touches
of gold are so pretty. I also added an old piece of 2 Crafty Chipboard, some
feathers, lace and some Prima and 49 & Market flowers.

This page was just for me! no teams, no deadlines...just pure love of creating...
I hope you find time to do the same!

'Thankful' a new layout for Mixed Media & Art

Hello my lovelies!
Autumn is here, and I have been enjoying
long evening walks in my neighborhood wrapped in a sweater and marveling
at the brilliant changing colors of the trees.

'Thankful'

I always start by covering my paper with clear gesso so my inks don't seep through
the paper, then I did some stenciling and added several Lindy's Stamp Gang
sprays. I used a new Sizzix leaf die and added some flowers and a few real
leaves I had gathered on my walk :)
I was inspired by the nature woodland feel and the rusty reds and greens of fall.
I hope you feel inspired by our new moodboard and join us!

For more info on how to enter please go here.
Here are a few close ups:

I used a piece of Dusty Attic chipboard, some vintage beads that I
found at a flea market and a sprinkling of gold sequins .

Thanks for visiting!

'12' a new page for Scrapki Wyzwaniowo

Good morning dear readers....we have a brand new challenge for you this
month over at Scrapki Wyzwaniowo! This month it's all about creating something
with a monochrome look.

'12'

So....as you can tell from my title my boy has hit 12 and although he still can be
sweet to his mama, we're going through some tough times and it's making me think a lot
about how he needs some stricter rules and some coaching on taking on
the responsibilities of a becoming a young man.
I've found myself a little bluesy over realizing that with him growing up,
it also means him pulling away from us as parents and that's been tricky for me too.
I bet there's a lot of moms out there than can relate :)
This photo was from our last vacation where we saw his 'moody' side,
but I love how my page turned out just the same :)

I hope you feel inspired (or challenged like I did) to use only one color!

To find out more about our challenge, please go here.

Here are a few details:

I used some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays on my background, some 7 Dots Studio
papers from the 'Yuletide' collection, lots of Prima flowers, a few Tim Holtz silver metal
 butterflies and some Dusty Attic chipboards painted white.

I also added some pieces of ripped up jeans, and it added some dark contrast
to the whole page...I had an idea that I am going to make a junk journal about my
son using denim.....I've been wanting to make one for so long, I think I finally
found the inspiration to start one.

Thanks for looking!

'be still' for Art Playground

Hello girls,  hope everyone is doing well and finding time to get creative!
I was invited to be Guest Designer again over at Art Playground, a
wonderful challenge blog owned by the super talented
and super sweet Sharon Ziv.
This month's palette had some soft warm browns and I decided to try
a page in a minimalist and very nature oriented theme.

'be still...'

I started with a paper called 'Seeds of Love' from the Vintage Artistry collection
by 49 & Market. I love the grey subtle background print of leaves and it set the mood
for my page. I added some lace, a couple of tags, some feathers and a few
pine cones and acorns from my backyard.

Here is the challenge for October.

More information on how to enter here.

Here are a few close ups:

A bit of a different style for me...although it's hard not to layer on lots of colors
and mediums, I still like how it turned out :) Can't wait to see your interpretation!
I love Sharon's blog, there are some super talented designers and of course
great prizes to be won!
See you soon!

'I Heard You Singing' for Mixed Media & Art

Hello my sweet friends!
I am so honoured to be able to stay on the wonderful team at
Mixed Media & Art challenge blog for another term!
The moodboards that Olya Kravets creates are marvelous and always spark my creativity.
She is such a talented crafter and her work is amazing!

'I Heard You Singing'

I love vintage styled art, it melts my heart to work with time worn antique style elements.
I started with some old sheet music and added lots of Lindy's Stamp Gang
mists, stamping, an old baroque style frame, lots of flowers and le piéce
de résistance - a vintage enamel butterfly pin I found at an estate sale :)

Here is the mood board for this month:

To find out more about how to join our challenge, win wonderful prizes and
see some of the most jaw-dropping gorgeous art check out the challenge here.

I would like to enter my project in a challenge blog called Scrap-Chip, they
have a challenge this month to use the color brown and chipboard, here I have used
a 2 Crafty Chipboard vine piece that I painted black and then rubbed with gold
metallic paint.

More info on this challenge here.

 Here are a few close ups:

I added some stenciling with a Prima stencil and some gloss gel,
then I rubbed some Prima gold metallic paint to bring out the textures.

I was inspired by the colors, the moths and all the gold in our moodboard....
Sometimes I sift through all my photos to find just the right one to use,
and I found this one that I had printed of my mum and her mum,
but I had mistakenly printed over it a photo of me holding my baby boy,
and I just thought it would be neat, and the colors are perfect.

See you next month,
Hugs, Lisa xox
