Faith Margaret

Hi there my crafty peeps....I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday!
I am back today with a layout that I did for Scraps of Elegance
using the December kit called 'Silver Bells'.

'Faith Margaret'

Continuing on with my obsession with brown lately, I chose this beautiful Authentique paper called 'Tidings One' and then used the turquoise Petaloo flowers, and the white Prima resin from this month's add-ons. There are so many pretty Christmas papers to work with this month. I also added a few elements from past kits, the paper doily and the Prima metal flourish.

Here is the December kit 'Silver Bells'...

These kits sell out super fast! To find out how to purchase please visit the store here.
To visit the blog and see all the beautiful projects with this kit please go here.
And don't forget to check out our Face Book group here.

Here are a few close ups....

As I was creating this layout I realized that this is the female companion to my layout
John Edward that I also created with a Scraps of Elegance kit a while back.
Same daguerrotype photograph, and beautiful vintage styling that I adore....
the name Faith Margaret also just came to me, so here she is :)
I love the idea of creating characters in art, imagining who these strangers were...

I used some 2 Crafty Chipboard pieces here, 'Corner Holly Vines', and 'Elements'
that I embossed in copper and gold.

I am so happy to announce that I have been invited to stay on the Scraps of Elegance
design team for another year! Thank you so much for the opportunity to create my strange
vintage art with such beautiful kits...always full of beautiful papers and lovely flowers.

Thanks for stopping by!
I appreciate every visit and every comment,
looking forward to enjoying another creative year with all my crafty friends :)

'Silent Night'

Hello crafty friends! If you're reading this post, you have probably snuck off to go take a breath and relax for a few moments amongst all the crazy preparations of this holiday season.
( I plan on doing some of that too :)
I have created an art journal page today using some beautiful vintage images from Pion Design to remind myself what we are really celebrating this magical night....

'Silent Night'

I have used the beautiful 'Glistening Season' collection:

and two images from 'Grandma's Attic':

To find a stock list of where to purchase Pion Design papers, please go here.
To visit the blog for inspiration, please go here.

This will be my last post for Pion Design, it's been a wonderful year and
I have enjoyed their sweet paper collections very much! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.

Here are a few close ups:

I created my background with heavy gesso and a star stencil, then did some
random stamping, and then added some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays,
some gold microbeads and then finally some Prima gold mica powder.

I had a few fall leaves on my desk that I picked up in my yard, and I found the deep rich
red gave a beautiful contrast and texture to the light blue sky. I also added a few 2 Crafty Chipboard
pieces, 'Clock Face Frames' and 'Star of David'.

May your holiday be filled with love, peace and joy!
Hugs, Lisa xo

'Moments'

Hi girls! well, the countdown is on! Are we ready for Christmas?
I am wishing for some snow, but there's no way that's going to happen...it's just  too mild this year.
So I decided to create my own winter scene....

'Moments'

This is my latest creation for 2 Crafty Chipboard using the beautiful and
delicate 'Fine Snowflakes' and 'Cherished Moments' that I
painted white and then added white glitter on top.
To find a stock list of 2 Crafty Chipboard, please go here.
And to visit the blog full of gorgeous and fun projects, please go here.

I was so inspired by two new challenges I found.
The first challenge had the most gorgeous ethereal moodboard I have ever seen...the blog
is called Paper-Maraca, I believe they are a chipboard manufacturer, which fit my layout so well.

The colors and the soft, misty winter scenes really moved me, I am totally in love with brown
these days and I love to combine brown with different colors.
To find out more about the challenge please go here.

The second challenge I would like to enter is found on 'Thirst for Creativity' for Sketch #33.

I really loved the design and the snowflakes caught my eye :)
To read more about this challenge please go here.

Here are a few close ups:

I embossed the little deer from the 'Deer Set' in 'Midnight Gold' Lindy's Stamp Gang
embossing powder and then sprinkled it with glitter. I also used some of my favourite
Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in 'Whale Watch Blue' and 'Buccaneer Bronze'.

Thanks for the visit,
Hugs, Lisa xo

'Blue, Grey and Silver'

Hello girls:)
....it's finally getting chilly where I live, so when I saw the icy new colors for Decembers Words & Painterly challenge, I found one of my sons winter portraits and away I go...

'Blue, Grey and Silver'

Even though I design for Scraps of Elegance, I also purchase the Scraps of Darkness kit each month, as Melinda picks out the best papers for all of our kits...this layout was created with the gorgeous wintery December Scraps of Darkness kit called 'Silver Bells'. I used this super cool BoBunny paper, the winter pinecone stencil and the little silver snowflake charms from the kit and added in my own flowers, some 2 Crafty Chipboard snowflakes, and some silver beads.
To find out where to purchase our kits please go here.

Here is the new color palette...

To see all the Words & Painterly designers take on this new challenge, please go here.
And check out our Face Book group here.

And a few details....

I love this paper!... the white birch trees matched the background in my
little boys portrait perfectly.

I hope I have inspired you to create something a bit frosty and join in the challenge!
See you soon,
Lisa xo

'sweet'

Hello friends....so it's December...already!?!?!
I always promise myself I'm going to start all the holiday preparations early, but it never quite works out that way...I haven't even decorated my house yet!  I was invited to Guest Design by the lovely girls over at Scrappolis....and I loved the sketch they sent me.
I wanted to create something red and white with a wintery feel..

'sweet'

I used some new 13 arts paper, a 13 arts snowflake stencil and some watercolor paints.
Don't the cookies look yummy?

Here is the pretty sketch up over at Scrappolis...I hope you'll pay them a visit.
You can find the new challenge here.

Here are a few close ups...

I would like to enter my design in a challenge I found on another beautiful Russian
challenge blog called ScrapMagic....I was so inspired by these photos....
the colors, the winter white mood,  and of course the cookies!

Here is the moodboard, you can find the challenge here.

I am so excited for Christmas this year...

Grace

Hello crafty girls :)
Sometime around the beginning of November I saw the most incredibly gorgeous vintage styled moodboard on the challenge blog Berry71Bleu, and all month long I've thought about those beautiful images knowing that I had to create a layout with these colors and textures,
so last night I finally created something.

'Grace'

I used some of my all time favourite paper from the Prima Script pad and just had fun
creating layers of old book paper, flowers, some metal pieces and lots of inks.

Here is the moodboard I followed:

I was inspired by the deep rich browns together with the lace and the delicate blues and greens....
For more details on the challenge, please go here.

Here are a few close ups:

How many of you recognize who that lady is in the top right image of the moodboard?
My title is your clue:)

Thanks for visiting...

'through the trees'

Hello lovelies....to all my American friends.....Happy Thanksgiving!
And to all my international girls, I wish you all a beautiful weekend with friends and family.
So much to be thankful for this year.....my boys that I love so much,
and another healthy happy year to look forward to :)
This is the week that a lot of us take time off to be with our families (and hopefully
sneak off to our craft rooms :) and I had time to create another layout with the beautiful
Scraps of Elegance November kit 'Tracey's Country Kitchen'.

'through the trees'

I was looking at this Fabscraps paper together with the Petaloo flowers that came in the kit and I saw in my head a wintery forest scene with pinecones? and twigs. Then a few days ago I saw a challenge that involved the colors 'Raspberry & Chocolate', so with those two things in mind,
this is what happened :)

Here is our kit this month:

To purchase Scraps of Elegance kits please go here
They are having a Thanksgiving Day sale all this weekend!
To have a look at all the amazing ways our kits are used by our designers, please go here.

Here are a few close ups:

From the kit I used the Fabscraps paper, the BoBunny small paper pad,
the Petaloo flowers, the BoBunny foil transfers, the white Prima flower trim,
and the BoBunny brads.

I would like to enter my layout in the 'Raspberry & Chocolate' challenge
that I found on 'Scrap Cafe International'. More details about the challenge here.

Hugs!

John Edward

Hello friends :) I am excited to share with you my first layout created with the brand new
November kit from Scraps of Elegance called 'Tracey's Country Kitchen'.

'John Edward'

The first thing I thought of when I looked at this beautiful daguerrotype photograph was 'what a dandy!' but I wasn't sure what 'dandy' meant, so I looked it up - 'Dandy'(also known as a beau or gallant[2]) is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of self.[3] Historically, especially in late 18th- and early 19th-century Britain, a dandy, who was self-made, often strove to imitate an aristocratic lifestyle despite coming from a middle-class background.
I think this word fits this handsome young man to a T :) I was really inspired by the rich golden browns in this photo and when I saw the blues and browns in this month's kit I thought it would be perfect for a vintage layout. I started with the BoBunny paper 'Provence Toile', and then created some layers with some scraps of old book paper from my stash.  I loved the chipboard piece that came with the kit - I used the Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder that came with the Elements Kit Add On called Midnight Gold, and some chunky gold embossing powder on top, and then cut it up into different pieces.
Other things I used from this months kit are the small BoBunny paper pad, the Prima flowers from the Floral Add On that I covered in 'Vintage Photo' brown ink, and the BoBunny brads.

Here is the kit for this month:

This month's kit is named after our very own Scraps of Elegance Design Team
Video Educator Tracey Sabella, please visit her blog here.
To find out where to purchase our kits (they sell out FAST!) please visit the online store here.
To join our Face Book group, please go here.
And for inspiration, videos and tutorials please visit our blog here.

Here are a few close ups:

I used a black watercolor pencil to add some writing and some circles around the page.

I would like to enter my layout in Challenge #6 that I found on a beautiful blog called
'Zhazhda Tvorchestva' (Thirst for Creativity), using brown, beige and blue.
For more details on this challenge, please visit their blog here.

I love how this one turned out, I hope you have felt a little inspired by it...

'Melancholy....

...were the sounds on a Winter's night.'
- Virginia Woolf

Hello my sweet girls....it's late Sunday night, I've had a terrific weekend with lots of crafty time to scrap and I've created some layouts to share this week. First up is my project for Words & Painterly, who on the 15th of every month have a brand new color palette to be inspired by.
Here is the palette for November...

And a few close ups...

This layout turned out exactly how I envisioned it, which doesn't happen very often.
When I saw this month's colors I immediately thought of white winter snow against black trees....
I used a lot of different mediums here, but my favourite was the 13 arts silver glitter
paint which made everything sparkle.

I've just been on the Words & Painterly blog to help select the winners for October and I was so pleased to see so many truly lovely entries! That makes choosing so hard :)
So glad to see this blog growing with each new month.
That's all for me tonight....
Have a lovely week...
Lisa xo
