'Dream' a new canvas for Scraps of Elegance

Hello my lovely friends....dropping in today to share a canvas I created with
the beautiful kit from Scraps of Elegance.

'Dream'

As you may have noticed, each designer at Scraps of Elegance has a kit named after them.
The kit for this month is called 'Lisa's Sweet September' ....named after me!

Here is the kit and some of the add ons I used...

This is only the second canvas I have ever created! Why I'm not sure, as I really enjoyed making it and it really isn't that complicated. This small 8x8 canvas is the perfect size for beginners.
Just a few easy steps:
1. I primed the canvas with white gesso, let it dry and then using the stencil that came in the Creativity add on, I added white crackle paste and left that to dry overnight.
2. I added some of my favourite Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays randomly over the canvas allowing some of the colors to drip down from where my photo will be.  Once dry, I did some stamping with black archival ink over the background.
3. Using the beautiful embossing powders also from the add on, I embossed some 2 Crafty Chipboard pieces, the butterflies and the title Dream. I LOVE how they turned out, the copper looks so real with it's hints of green 'rust'. You can see which pieces I used here.
4. The last step was to add my embellishments - flowers from the Floral add on, my photograph and glue everything down....voila!!

I hope you have enjoyed my project and feel inspired to create your own canvas.
This one was the perfect size to start with.

Happy crafting!
Hugs, Lisa

seriously nine

Hello girls! It's been a bit quiet on my blog....so many ideas but not enough hours in the day to work on them!
It's the middle of the month and time for a brand new challenge at Words & Painterly.
This month's color palette is perfect for the beginning of fall.

'seriously nine'

I loved the orange and deep blue colors for Septembers challenge. I took this photo of my nine year old boy and when I posted it on Instagram, I wrote the caption 'seriously nine' as I see him maturing and having serious, pensive moments and asking me thoughtful questions. I wrote some journaling on the back about the changes I see in him.

Here is the challenge for September.

For more info on how to enter and to see the beautiful work by our
design team please go here.

Here are a few close ups...

I had an idea to use some denim on this layout so I tore up an old pair of his jeans
and used strips of a back pocket underneath my photo, love the texture it added.

I wanted a really grungy look so I did a lot of masking with a 13 arts stencil
and then used blue and black ink on the background.

Thanks for looking!
I hope you'll join in :)

'Agnes'

Hello lovelies...I love to create pages that are light and sweet but every once in a while I want to create something dark and mysterious....

'Agnes'

So I started with some papers from the Pion Design collection called 'A Day in May'. The background paper is called 'Brown Ornament', and I used the other side of that paper which is brown stripes underneath my photo to play off of the stripes of this beautiful girls dress.

To visit the Pion Design blog, please go here.

For my American friends, you can find Pion Design products at

Here are a few close ups:

I had so much creating this layout. I colored my background with my Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays. I used Dark Chocolate Truffle, Buccaneer Bronze, Danny Zukco's Denim, and Midnight Rendezvous Raven. I love how the background turned out so chaotic and deconstructed, it brings out the tragic beauty of this girls photo.

I haven't embossed anything for a while, so I bought some new embossing powders, love them!
I embossed this chipboard piece in black, silver and copper really messily,
love how it looks like old rusted metal.

This is my favourite kind of layout...just full on crazy with colors and textures. After adding my flowers I also used my two favourite Finnabair products, glass beads, and then I went over everything with gold mica powder, there is just nothing like that Prima mica powder, it's such an intense and rich color.

Thanks for looking,
Lisa xo
