A new layout for 13arts and a look at the new 13 arts Design Team!

Hello girls I have a new layout and some news to share with you.
I have been invited to stay on the 13 arts Design team for this year!

such a long time, it's such an honour to be on her Design Team, and I hope I can
bring you some inspiration to get colorful and creative with her paper collections
and her amazing art mediums.

My favourite part of creating a layout is working on my background, and I always start by laying down some clear gesso and then using some white gesso to prepare the place where I'm going to use the paints and inks. I just love swirling the colors around to create some interest and here I combines several different inks and then also sprayed some water and I like how the colors bled into each other.

Tag set tutorial for Scraps of Elegance

Happy monday girls....I had a creative burst this past weekend and I was so
happy to just be able to unwind and spend some time getting crafty :)
The February kit called 'Watercolor Wishes' continues to inspire me,
this time I created a set of shabby tags and took some photos along the way.

'Always, Discover'

I started with the cardboard pieces from the 49 & Market flower packs, and then cut out some of the 49 & Market papers to glue on the top. I added some of the Lindy's Magical Shaker powder mixed with water, a few pieces of 2 Crafty Chipboard, some white lace, and some 49 & Market flowers from the floral add on.

Here is the February kit:

To purchase our kits please visit the online store here.

I prepared a short tutorial on my process for you. I did these tags at night, so the light's not
great, and my table is soooo messy (I'll just confess right now my craft table is a little chaotic at times), but I just thought I'd share the simple steps to create some shabby tags like these.

1. I cut the paper packaging from the flowers that were in the floral add on and then cut out some paper from the kit to match. I also fussy cut some birds and flowers from the 49 & Market kit papers.

2. I glued the papers down and cut off the corners. I also punched a hole in each tag for the ribbons.
Then I covered both tags in a coat of clear gesso, and after that dried I applied some heavy white gesso a bit messily. I like to apply the gesso unevenly and then heat it with my heat gun on high; the gesso bubbles and cracks and I think it makes some interesting patterns for later on when you apply the inks or watercolors.

3. The next step is to add some color to your background. I used the pretty Lindy's Magical Shaker that came in the kit called 'Oom Pah Pah Pink'. I just mixed it wth a little water. Then I added some stamping on top.

4. Now it's time to add your embellishments. I glued down some pieces of white lace that I had cut up, and then layered on the papers I had fussy cut, some chipboards that I painted white, and some flowers.

5. I went back in with some watercolors to add some more colors to tie it all together. Then I brushed everything lightly with some gesso to give the tags a really shabby look. Once it was all dry, I tied some twine on each tag, and we're done!

Here are some details:

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and I hope it inspires you to create something
shabby too!

'Forever' a new layout for Scraps of Elegance

Hello girls! I wanted to share my very first layout created with the BEAUTIFUL February
kit from Scraps of Elegance called 'Watercolor Wishes'.

Oh I just can't tell you how much I loved this month's kit, the kind of kit where you're unwrapping everything and just so excited to get creating! The 49 & Market papers are just gorgeous with really lovely color combos, nice and thick too and can hold up to lots of mediums. And the floral add on this month was perfectly matched, with a really cool 49 & Market vine of flowers that I bent into a circle here on this page. I fussy cut some of the birds and flowers and tucked those in too. The kit also came with some really pretty colored round stones that added an unusual touch. I also used a little wooden title from our last kit. And again using lots of watercolors in my background, love how this turned out.

Here is February's kit:

To find out how to purchase our kits, please go here, and
don't forget to visit our blog here we have lots of designers on both
teams working magic with our kits and even posting tutorials too :)

Here are a few close ups:

So in love with these beautiful Prima brass birds, I also added some
Prima glass beads.

See you soon, more to come with this lovely kit,

'Artsy' tag for 13arts

Warm hellos to my crafty friends...
I have a tag I created for 13arts to share today.

'Be creative'

This tag is a testament to never giving up on a project! I didn't really know
where I was going when I started this, I just covered a tag in black gesso and then grabbed
a cool 13 arts stencil and used the black gesso again to add some artsy words.
I really didn't like the tag at all, but I pressed forward, adding some Rainbow
Duo watercolor in 'Lilac' and some stamping....at this point wondering if I should
pitch the whole thing in the bin...but I kept going adding some clocks and butterflies
that I cut out of a paper from the 'His & Hers' collection, some flowers and a torn up black doily.
Then my last step was to add some sparkly white iridescent glitter and some silver
microspheres with gel medium. After it was all done, I was really surprised to find.... I loved it!
Sooooo, the moral of the story here is don't give up on a crafty project until you've given it a chance,
you might be really happy that you didn't :)

'I will always love you'

Hello girls, I have another layout to share with you
created with the January 'Be Mine' kit from Scraps of Elegance.

'I will always love you'

I was thinking when I created this layout that sometimes you don't always need the most expensive mediums to make a great page. I used a really cheap ($10) watercolor set that I bought at Michael's and I really love how it has a whole range of colors all right there in the same box. I went from oranges to reds to pinks to purples in my background feeling really inspired by the colors in my photo and I love how all these different shades blended together. I don't usually use that many colors on one page so I really like how it turned out :)

I used a lot from the main kit and floral addon, the pretty Blue Fern Studios papers,
the heart chipboard piece that I colored with my watercolors, the brass heart and keys,
the gold foil dollies, the little wood embellishments,
the tags with the twine and some Prima flowers.

You can purchase our kits here, and don't forget to post your projects
created with our kits into the facebook group here.

'Just the two of us'

Hello my crafty girls, I hope you're all doing well :)
It seems like life has been conspiring against me lately to not have any time to do what
I love, which is play with my new kits! But I did finally get some time
this past weekend to start creating with the super pretty
kit called 'Be Mine' from Scraps of Elegance.

'Just the Two of Us'

This layout is dedicated to my husband, my 'rock' and my best friend. Here's to all the unsung heroes
of our lives, the ones that wake up at 4:30 every morning, drive insane miles, work stressful jobs,
and still come home with a smile and wanting hugs. We've been through good times and bad, and he's still the one I want share my life with. I'm so grateful to this guy, he's given me a fantastic life in this amazing country I love so much and a sweet boy that is my sun, moon and stars.
I call him my 'rock' and he calls me the 'glue'.... (so romantic right? lol)...
....he says without me he and the boy would fall apart ;)
The February kit is filled with such beautiful and romantic goodies that I'm sure you'll
be inspired to create something celebrating the love of your life...

Here is the kit:

To find out where to purchase our kits, please go here.
And don't forget to check out our blog here to get inspired
by all the amazing designers on our team.

Here are a few close ups:

The title chipboard was so large that it just worked better for me to use it
in building my layers under my photo, but I love the sentiment.

I had started splashing around some pink ink on my background when all
of a sudden I realized it had started to look like a heart...how perfect :)

I used just about everything from the main kit, the papers, the tiny glittery hearts,
the pink pearly drops, the ephemera pack, the gold clips, and the red twine.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day my sweet friends!
See you soon,
Lisa xo

'Believe' a new layout for 13 arts

Hello my crafty friends, I hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying winter?
Sometimes it's so nice to have a great excuse for not going outside but to stay cozy,
put on some music and just let your mind and your hands wander and get messy :)
I am back today to share another layout with more violet colors, this time for my
favourite brand, 13 arts!

'Believe'

I started with the beautiful paper called 'Dreamland' from the 'Out of the Blue' collection,
then layered on some modeling paste through some 13 arts stencils, and then splashed on lots of
13 arts mediums, inks and paints in 'Violet' and 'Bordeaux'.

To find the products that I used here, please visit the 13 arts online store here.
And to check out our blog with lots of beautiful inspiration, please go here.

I love the sparkling glitter paints from 13 arts! Here I used the silver glitter paint and
some silver microspheres.
